CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and Stantec to deliver projects for Southern Water Services Ltd. I prepared the civil estimates for the civil Net Direct Works and overall project Indirect Works for Wastewater and Clean Water projects. These projects ranged in value from £500k to £90m and were then reviewed by senior management and submitted to the client. All civil construction work was undertaken by Tier 2 Subcontractors with whom I liaised with throughout the bidding process. I managed the projects from the Works Information being issued by the client to submission. A key part of my role was to analyse construction, engineering, safety and environmental documents to develop the construction methodology for subcontractors. I had to ensure that the Forecast Outturn Cost aligned with Health and Safety and Environmental best practices, was realistic, best value for money and in the best interest of internal and external stakeholders. Using this construction methodology I prepared Activity Schedules which were issued to Tier 2 subcontractors. Throughout my time at CMDP I developed and maintained strong relationships with subcontractors, project managers and the client. I managed Tier 2 Subcontractors throughout the bidding process and challenged their submissions.I was the lead on the Bottom-Up Estimates for the Staff and Welfare required to deliver all projects. I presented the costs to the senior internal stakeholders through creating slides on Microsoft PowerPoint, as well as acting as the subject matter expert for all civil queries and Indirect Works. To improve the estimating process I developed a library of historic pricing data. This data was used to create high-level estimates for the client and to challenge subcontractor submissions. I took on the role of the team social secretary and organised several events to get the team together outside of work hours.

North And South America

Spent time travelling through North, Central and South America. During this time I volunteered at a hostel helping teach English to Bolivian children and helping the hostel with their community work.

As a Site Engineer for Fulton Hogan I worked on:- Central Plains Water Irrigation Scheme (NZ$60m) where I managed concrete testing for multiple complex concrete structures. - Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT) in Lyttleton ranging from NZ$300k to NZ$1.7m in value. Throughout this time I managed multiple construction sites from the pre-planning phase through to completion. I pro-actively managed health and safety, the environment and quality throughout construction. As part of this process, I wrote subcontract agreements, established and managed programmes in CCS software issued Permits to Work and procured materials. A key achievement was I created new internal documentation for locating services within a construction site which was rolled out company-wide.

After University I was accepted into the Graduate Programme at Fulton Hogan. Within the programme, I worked in the Road Maintenance and Road Construction divisions. My key achievements were submitting and winning a tender for major signs contract for State Highway 1 and 7 in Canterbury, New Zealand. I then organised labour and materials for the Signs Contract.

I was the umpire coordinator for the University of Canterbury Hockey Club. I was in charge of allocating umpires for the allotted games the club was responsible. I had to follow through with every team and ensure that every game that the club was allocated had an umpire assigned. It was key to ensure there was back up umpires if one fell through, often umpiring the game myself. Over the course of the season, I ensured that each team had been allocated an even number of games and team were allocated games at their skill level.
