About me: I joined LinkedIn to promote my ideas, not myself.My writing intends to offer SOLUTIONS to the social, cultural and political problems we face, most urgently through Safeguard, a project which warned about the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack months before it happened. We need to put serious IDEAS into action to prevent far worse from occurring.About you: I've seen posts that say politics isn't a "business" matter and doesn't belong on LinkedIn. I absolutely disagree: politics touches virtually every part of your life. If you are early in your career, your ability to reach your goals is thwarted by all kinds of political obstacles: not just "business regulations" or the "glass ceiling" or racial inequities; but rather subtleties invisibly cemented into our political and economic systems.These barriers thwart you from making money, but more importantly from achieving your highest social and cultural aspirations. Eliminating such invisible impediments will revolutionize your business life, and also your social and cultural ones as well.For example, thousands of educators are thwarted by encrusted political special interest groups from inspiring their students (YOUR children) from reaching their fullest potential. My experience in education and as a political scientist gives me insights regarding how to transform a dysfunctional academic system currently enchained by archaic political legacies.Your economic liberty is dependent on the political system that encompasses it - but so are your social and cultural freedoms: from your gender identification, to your reproductive rights and responsibilities, to your ability to worship as you wish and live as who you truly are.Our most imminent critical mission is to safeguard democracy. The need isn't to "keep politics off of LinkedIn", but rather to elevate the level of our political discourse on LinkedIn itself and media more broadly.We writers today need to develop serious IDEAS to counter authoritarianism, and journalists especially need to passionately defend against the danger it poses to their profession.My posts on LinkedIn will aspire to these ends.One last thing about me (regarding "business" matters):I might freelance (or ghost write?) - but only for the right client. Not only do I not want to promote something I don't believe in, I would find it arduous to produce good writing under circumstances I wasn’t enthusiastic about.
