My role when I worked as a General operative at Raisco LTD. This entails operating heavy machinery such as the Saw and Drill line, Steel shot blaster and Gantry cranes. Operating these machines, especially the saw and drill line, requires high level of attention to detail as inputting incorrect figures and not following correct procedures could lead to inaccurate products being produced. My attention to detail also is needed in the picking of plates as down the production line other workers need the correct plates for the correct beam and it’s my responsibility to ensure this happens. Also, I am required to problem solve when certain machines have a fault or break, I am required to fix these faults to ensure the production line can maintain activity. This job has trained me in; Manual handling, use of Angle grinders, use of gantry cranes, picking, operating both the saw and drill line and the steel shot blaster.

As a track marshal, I ensure that all customers are enjoying themselves in a safe and secure environment. Go Karting, as thrilling as it may be, is also very dangerous especially when done wrong. As a marshal, I try to make sure people learn from their mistakes to ensure they can get the most of their experience. When there are ever any incidents, I'm always there on hand immediately to ensure customers are all right. As an Event Host, I make sure that customers are always hyped and full of energy before they go on track. Even though it is my job to get customers excited about their sessions, I have to also make them all aware of the dangers and what the rules are. Portraying these rules is imperative to the safety of the customers as well as the Track Marshals.

My role when I worked at Cockerton fisheries was a food preparation supervisor/ shop assistant. My main duties included preparing the fish, chips, curry and gravy, this gave me an understanding of health and safety regulations in the kitchen. I mainly worked on my own in the back which developed my ability to work independently and to be able to use my own initiative to overcome tasks. I was faced with deadlines every day which had to be met as it was a fast-paced environment that needed constant food preparing. I was also responsible in working on the till which shows my money handling abilities as well as my communication skills with customers.
