North Sea - West of Shetlands Renewal

Operations and Well Planning: Responsible for leading and coordinating the planning and execution of deepwater exploration and appraisal wells in the Miocene and Paleogene Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, I manage all OBO exploration operations and partner communications during well execution to maximize company influence and value delivery in partner wells. Highlights of this role: Internally recruited onto the high value well execution team responsible for planning and executing the region’s most complex wells in HPHT and subsalt conditions.

Responsible for operations of a drilling and production platform as well as a semi-submersible drill rig. While in this role I have executed ERD oil production wells and high-angle data appraisal wells in conventional sand reservoirs. Highlights of this role include: Robust wireline and core data acquisition planning and execution, realtime pore pressure detection and analysis, subsurface risk reduction through well design optimization, and maximizing well production by integrating completions and drilling engineering inputs into execution and well placement decisions.

Responsible for managing and implementing the subsurface risk identification and mitigation process. This role combined technical experience and lessons-learned with team process and documentation management. Subsurface data modeling, root cause analyses, and offset well reviews were utilized to predict drilling hazards for each well across the field while ensuring team adherence to the established workflow framework. Highlights of this role include: Development and implementation of a successful NPT reduction plan for ACG field, overseeing compliant execution of the risk reduction work sessions, and improvement of the existing documentation standards to further optimize well data management. This role was performed concurrently with the operations geology role and produced tangible improvement in well drilling efficiency.

o Operations Geology Accelerated Development Program (ADP) Course Facilitator: Responsible for maintaining and delivering portions of the course content for the Ops Geology ADP course. Includes preparing course materials and teaching some course sections.o New Well Delivery Workflow Planning: Responsible for coordinating with global functional experts to draft an official corporate well planning and execution process. This included integration with and testing of software workflows in preparation of global rollout.

Responsible for planning a well execution program to deliver the full scope of appraisal and data acquisition needs in order to support the decision of corporate entry into a new unconventional oil shale play. While in this role I worked with a diverse set of disciplines to build subsurface databases and models, predict overburden drilling hazards and recommend mitigations, coordinate service providers for key deliverables, and plan production-test and data acquisition wells to strategically de-risk segments of the basin. Highlights of this role include: Optimizing well placement and acreage pooling to reduce well construction costs and drilling risk, ground-up creation of a subsurface database and associated 2D/3D structural and stratigraphic models to support planning and execution, working with mid-stream and facilities planners to optimize field planning around subsurface predictions, and contributing to a strategy to accelerate the initiation of drilling activity in the field by working with in parallel contract drilling companies and the BP internal drilling department.

Responsible for planning and executing a campaign of multi-well pads of unconventional horizontal shale gas wells to support full field development, with an emphasis on fast-paced efficient well delivery. During this role I was solely responsible for the planning and operational execution of 3 simultaneous rig lines. I drilled technically challenging wells with 5,000+ ft horizontal reservoir sections which required 24/7 geosteering support in order to be delivered successfully. I performed the planning of wells for the rig lines in tandem with operational execution. I was also responsible for training and supervision of the rotational new hire wellsite and operations geologists. Highlights of this role include: Implementing a new trajectory planning workflow to improve depth prediction in the horizontal well paths, coordinating 3rd-party service providers to deliver novel technology deployment trials, led efforts to improve well productivity by integrating geologic analysis into the completions design, creation and delivery of a revised well execution strategy to effectively reduce NPT and un-planned sidetracks, training and coaching of 8 new hire staff geologists in support of team organizational capability, development and implementation of a geosteering workflow and communications standard for reporting.
