OverviewI am an integral part of the Recruitment and Talent team, helping build the infrastructure, people, and management information needed for Scotland to have a world-class digital public service.I work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all recruitment and talent activity is fit for purpose, staff in the digital division are supported throughout their career, identifying areas for improvement and iteratively implementing agreed plans/processes.Main Duties•Guide recruiting managers, within our division, on the recruitment process for all types of employment e.g. Interim, Fixed Term Appointments, Permanent and secondments.•Work alongside senior management staff in order to develop IT specialist job descriptions that will be advertised to the public. •Analyse the cost compared with the range of the different advertising routes used by the DPSBT Division in order to improve cost effectiveness. •Manage and communicate the recruitment process to the wider division through the development of an operations manual tailored to the specialist recruitment of the Digital Public Services and Business Transformation division to identify & progress aligned process improvements. •Support senior managers in the recruitment processes by developing recruitment packs to be delivered to panels while organising all interviews. •Responsible for quality checking all documentation is completed correctly by managers prior to submission to HR colleagues.•Develop and maintain a good working relationship with HR colleagues ensuring full understanding of processes in order for all documentation to be completed within the latest guidance. •Manage on-boarding processes for new entrants into the Digital Public Services and Business Transformation Division •Manage the division wide induction session to new starters to the division, identifying and liaising with appropriate colleagues.•Organise the preparation, issue and tracking of procurement exercises.

Online Services & Strategy Division, working with the wider public sector, is responsible for delivery of mygovscot, a single point of entry to all citizen and business facing public services, and of GLOW, the national online platform for education. My Communications Administrator role provides an exciting opportunity to join a busy and versatile team, working with a number of communications planning documents and tools used by the Business Management and Communications team. The production of quality work to tight deadlines is essential, sourcing information from a variety of locations, including cross-Directorate planning and communications templates. My role is responsible for ensuring all communications tools, documents, files and plans are accurate and up to date. This requires a very good knowledge of communications and Scottish current affairs.Main Duties• I maintain a range of communications planning products and documents, which keep track of communications with regards to mygovscot and digital public services transformation.• I attend weekly communications planning meetings with the Head of Business Management and Communications to maintain forward planning documentation and you will assist with the scheduling of forthcoming events.• I gauge the sensitivity of potential events/announcements and their suitability for briefing to an external audience. • I provide support in the management and organisation of communications and stakeholder events and briefings• I also provide briefing and keep up to date messages and communications for the Online Services area of SALTIRE our Intranet Service. I started with the Scottish Governemnt at 16 years old, leaving school on a friday and starting on a monday was a tough experience i had to overcome. I began in Human Resources as an HR Reourcing and Interchange Officer.My main duties included providing advice, support and guidance on resourcing to recruiting managers and internal/external applicants. This involves processing and managing recruitment campaigns to ensure the needs of the business areas are resourced effectively, and are compliant with the Civil Service Commission’s fair and open Recruitment Principles. As well as providing advice, support and guidance on interchange (inward and outward secondments and loans) to managers and to staff going on secondment both within and out with the UK, as well as postings to Scottish Government offices overseas. This involves proof reading and advertising posts on the intranet using Saltire Publisher. Advising, supporting and guiding on Youth Employment Initiatives (Modern Apprentice (MAP) and student placements). This includes proof reading adverts, gaining approvals and advertising within Skills Development Scotland. Other duties associated with this post include updating and maintaining the Scottish Government’s vacancies on-line system; carrying out pre-appointment nationality and security checks, checking resourcing and interchange documentation to ensure that all recruitment activity is carried out in accordance with the Civil Service Commission’s Recruitment Principles.
