Growing up in a family business, I've learned that it's necessary for a company to continually adapt to changes in technology and always look for ways to make its operations more efficient. Whether through accounting, HR, or customer service, I constantly look for ways a business can work more efficiently. Many companies gear their focus toward operations, their products, and or services. However, they often forget about a crucial component of their success, marketing and IT systems. Through high school and college, I've helped over 120 people expand their businesses by creating the marketing, IT, and organization tools they need. Additionally, working with companies in various industries, I've discovered the components that can stake a startup business and turn it into a thriving, multi-generational success. After graduating with a BA in Communications at the University of Tampa coupled with a few years of experience in the marketing and IT industries, I joined our 89-year-old family real estate business as the fifth generation.With the tools I learned and developed, I'm bringing our company into the next century. As the Marketing, IT, and Leasing Administrator, I've implemented new resources and procedures to rent our commercial spaces and manage the portfolio more smoothly.The circumstances that allowed me to develop these organizational skills came at the age of four when I was diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor. After a 13-hour surgery, a 9-day medically induced coma, then 30 rounds of radiation four years later, I made a successful recovery. Over time, I learned to organize my medications, monitor my body if something was off, and quickly solve any medical issues that arose.To help give back to the community and medical professionals who saved my life. For the last 15 years, I am registered and serve as a peer-to-peer counselor with the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation. This organization assists families going through similar situations that my family and I experienced. As a counselor, I can offer feedback and recommendations to their daunting questions and guide them through the surgery and recovery process.Additionally, my family and I started a non-profit, Project To Cure, which funds pediatric brain cancer research with a lab at the Northwell Health System in Manhasset, NY. Over the last 18 years, we've raised over $1.8 million and have clinical trials in progress.
