About Alex Deas
Currently the Lead Technologist in all Deep Life Group companies, with a special focus on Open Safety Equipment Ltd, as CEO and medical device compliance in Deep Life Medical Ltd.I am a professional engineer (PhD, FIET, C.Eng), providing the project leadership and commercialisation of safety, medical and respiratory systems. My background covers electronics, software, mechanics, and their mathematical verification, supplemented by post doctorate training in respiratory physiology. I have been the CEO or CTO/Chief Engineer in 9 company groups (comprising over 50 companies), taking these from either inception or rescue, through to successful IPO or trade sale. Most of these companies were involved in demanding technologies integrating electronics (including large custom ASICs), software and complex mechanics. Safety and respiratory technology is a primary theme within these company groups and their products.I have brought some of this expertise to my favourite sport - I started diving in 1979, and went on to lead many extreme dive expeditions over the years. I sat on the EC committees that define Europe's dive equipment and PPE safety standards, representing Switzerland. Led the application of Functional Safety to the dive industry, achieving SIL 3 for rebreathers - it remains the only dive equipment ever to achieve any recognised functional safety standard and the only respiratory equipment to achieve SIL 3.
Listed skills include Asic, Electronics, Project Management, Start Ups, and 46 others.
