As the company experienced rapid growth, the demand for data solutions expanded in tandem. It was during this period that I was promoted to Head of Data, entrusted with the responsibility of aligning our data capabilities with the modern data stack. This journey began with the formation of a dedicated team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts, all united by the vision to revolutionize how we harnessed and presented our data, both internally and externally.Our first major undertaking was the complete reconstruction of our internal data warehouse, grounded in the principles of the Kimball methodology. We meticulously planned and implemented each phase, including data modelling, as we embarked on this ambitious transformation. With a successful business proposal approved, we initiated our work, embarking on a journey that involved re-evaluating and remodelling all existing data sources, drawing from our internal systems and the main application. Our architectural framework was designed to harness the power of Azure technologies, featuring a Power BI front end supported by our new Azure SQL data warehouse and driven by Azure Data Factory for ELT.Over the course of my tenure in this role, we completed four pivotal phases of delivery, propelling our data capabilities to the forefront of our organizational operations. Following the division of DPH into separate organizations, I transitioned to the Adam HTT division, where our core focus was on delivering procurement services to local government entities. As the inaugural and sole data resource at DPH, I assumed full responsibility for the company's data estate, which included overseeing a legacy data warehouse and on-site infrastructure. In a short span, my role evolved to include leading a critical infrastructure migration project, transitioning our on-site infrastructure into a private cloud environment. This endeavour encompassed various database administration activities and required significant enhancements to our existing systems, including the implementation of technologies such as availability groups and upgrading to SQL 2014.

As an apprentice, I embarked on a journey to earn my CompTIA certifications and was very quickly entrusted with the responsibility of managing all on-site infrastructure, including phone systems, network devices, and servers. As I quickly gained experience and knowledge, I also gained more responsibilities including database administration, overseeing Microsoft SQL and Oracle servers, vital for development and QA. During this time, I shadowed senior business intelligence consultants to gain proficiency in the Microsoft data stack, learning SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and T-SQL. I actively participated in stakeholder meetings, honing my soft skills to complement my technical expertise.My dedication and skills led to a role in business intelligence consultancy. In this capacity, I collaborated with senior colleagues to strategise, build, and deliver end-to-end data warehousing solutions.
