• Utilized cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) systems to synthesize and purify using in vitro transcription of mRNA and translation of proteins, then used those proteins for developing a novel cell-free production platform for caffeine• Engineered MfnG tyrosine O-methyltransferase to perform ethylations instead of methylations based on a structure-guided protein engineering approach• Worked on a project with the goal of creating natural products in an in vitro cell-free system, for the purpose of rapidly synthesizing large numbers of natural products to screen for drug discovery• Used analytical techniques such as liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and HPLC to identify the presence of caffeine and other compounds, including novel compounds, based on their expected mass and retention time• Automated the protein synthesis and purification process using robotics to reduce labor and increase consistency in the process

• Developed Ccolor – Color Blindness AR Solution, an augmented reality app for the use of colorblind people which provides filters to correct for protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia, protanomaly, deuteranomaly, and tritanomaly which have been shown to enable colorblind people to see the numbers in the famous dot tests, while also giving a simple color identifier interface to identify the colors of objects the user encounters• Published app on the iOS App Store and received thousands of downloads from users around the world• Winner of Best Application of AR/VR in the 2017 Creator Challenge Series

• Assisted various students with general chemistry classes, including concepts such as chemical kinetics, crystal field theory, spectroscopy, electrochemistry, and chemistry of transition metal compounds• Reviewed practice tests and worked through problem sets with students in organic chemistry classes• Increased student’s understanding of advanced subjects including molecular biology, evolutionary biology, genetics, etc.• Explained important concepts for psychology classes, including classical and operant conditioning, neural mechanisms of learning, and the neural structure of visual perception
