Worked as part of a growing start-up to develop, and design products around, advanced medical imaging and surgical robotics technologies• Saved company tens of thousands of dollars in animal labs by developing a process for and fabricating a series of phantoms to model blood flow through vessels of varying sizes, at different flow rates, and at varying depths below different types of tissue to characterize perfusion and vascularity imaging systems• Leveraged Matlab to develop code that spatially and temporally processes raw endoscopic laser images and outputs a map of tissue perfusion and vascularity• Created a model of a herniated abdominal wall (w/ breathing motion) to test autonomous robotic stitching• Designed and built modular fixtures to drive rapid prototyping of endoscopic concepts during animal lab testing• Performed concept design and used SolidWorks / 3D-printing to model an advanced laparoscope product• Modeled and assembled a robotic system to perform autonomous laparoscopic stitching• Assisted surgeons to perform procedures and engineers to set up tests during animal labs• Successfully re-perfused a porcine kidney ex-vivo to study how an imaging technology performed with solid organs
