Working with the Delivery Partner team and appointed by Network Rail in the role of Designated Project Engineer for the Old Oak Common to Paddington Approach and Intercity Express Programme (OOCPA & IEP) projects. Key responsibilities include:• Managing a team of Senior Project Engineers and implementing a collaborative approach with NR subcontractors to reduce review cycles for engineering deliverables to meet programme• Managing Engineering Resources and associated competencies both internally and from subcontractors• Implementing effective change control and assessing the impact of any changes to standards upon the projects.• Defining technical requirements for contracts• Managing technical & engineering queries and ensuring adherence to the Governance for Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) process.• Obtaining technical approval where required and issuing of acceptance on behalf of NR• Managing field design change to ensure designs are not invalidated.• Reviewing and accepting completion and handover documentation and confirming acceptance of construction on behalf of NR through acceptance of engineering deliverables

Working with the Delivery Partner team and appointed by Network Rail to direct and develop all project engineering within the OOCPA & IEP programme (approximate value £140m). Scope involves remodelling the existing infrastructure between the 0 and 3.5 mile posts to facilitate the implementation of Crossrail and to enable the introduction of Super Express Trains onto the Great Western Main Line. Key responsibilities include:Key Accountabilities• Strategic oversight of Engineering delivery for the programme• Development and implementation of a team structure with the capability to deliver the programme of work• Work alongside the Programme Manager to ensure that Engineering and Project Management functions are aligned• Monitor and review engineering outputs to support the programme schedule, budget, safety, environmental and quality requirements• Manage performance of suppliers intervening where necessary to address issues and agree strategies for improvement at a senior level.• Manage the use of relevant techniques and procedures of Quantified and Qualitative Risk Assessment and HAZOP analysis to the programme• Monitor so that appropriate engineering standards are used in relation to design and construction and that they comply with legislation, Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards

Train Approach Warning System (TAWS)• Born out of an ORR instruction to improve level crossing safety at user worked crossings on block section railway lines• Working with the client and supplier to maintain a system of temporary transponders carried on trains on the Sudbury to Marks Tey line and providing information of train location relative to crossing users to the signaller in the Liverpool Street IECC.• Implementation of a permanent solution to replace the temporary arrangement.• Working closely with the client and suppliers to undertake commissioning of the new system and continued monitoring for further evaluation.• Undertaking of DRACAS for the new system. • Development of a solution to enable additional trains to run on the line and provide information on their location to the signaller.• West Anglia Platform Extensions (WAPE)• Managing the closeout and handover of the WAPE project in which five stations underwent platform extension works to facilitate the introduction of longer rolling stock. Works consisted of civil works, signal moves, track layout and alignment alterations, OLE modifications, M&E works and alteration and addition to telecoms assets.• Managing completion of snag works including sourcing contractors to undertake works, preparation of contracts and scopes of work, design and procurement activities, planning and implementation of works on site.• Working closely with the client to agree deliverables and programme.• Responsible for delivery of Health & Safety file and all documentation for handover• Management of resources across the business to deliver within tight timescales

• Lead Project Engineer for End State Track Layout (ESTL)• Leading all Engineering activities in order to deliver major track layout changes on the SSR Upgrade Programme with a value of approx. £200 million• Oversee the safe and efficient delivery of track layout design and construction solutions• Identifying and developing scope required to ensure the track infrastructure is compatible with the new signalling system• Developing a delivery strategy to align with the new signalling contractor’s programme • Managing impact of scope changes on interfacing projects• Working with the operators and maintainers to ensure the delivery strategy is acceptable• Ensuring that requirements and specifications are traceable, economic, deliverable and assured by the ESTL supply chain• Provide specialist professional and technical support on project engineering issues to the project teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery of projects to time, budget and quality• Responsible for ensuring that variations, concessions, enabling works and variations which fall outside the remit of the ESTL supply chain are progressed according to SUP and corporate engineering management procedures• Responsible for the competency assessment and development of project engineers under my direct control, and allocation of discipline-specific engineering tasks to suitably accredited engineers

• Managing the Track Signalling and Power enabling works required to introduce the new signalling system on the Northern Line.• Delivering the required changes to implement increased speeds and more trains per hour on the Northern Line.• Identification emerging issues and risks and implementation of mitigation to minimise the impact to budget and programme.• Manage changes to scope, raising and presenting trends to secure additional funding when required.• Preparing scopes for newly identified works and take through the tender process.• Manage labour and subcontract resources• Delivering projects to tight time scales and in accordance with governance.• Liaising and co-ordinating with stakeholders

• Fully accountable as the technical authority within the scope of the project• Responsible for delivery of all engineering activities and technical decision making• Management of internal and external engineering resources• Co-ordination and leadership of multi-discipline design teams to ensure delivery of project objectives• Ensuring that all design safety reviews / assessments are undertaken, and provide guidance on reducing residual risks to ALARP • Managing the technical assurance deliverables on behalf of the project team

• Overall responsibility for delivery of assured integrated multi discipline design• Managing the interface between design and construction • Dealing with site queries and resolution of queries• Managing the design change process• Managing the design budget• Undertaking a Six Sigma Process Improvement Project to improve efficiencies across all engineering disciplines.

• Mechanical building services design for LU stations.• Preparing & developing proposals • Site surveys• Preparation of Conceptual Design Statements, Risk Assessments, Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Works, Design Drawings, Mechanical Specifications, Calculations• Checking of deliverables produced by other mechanical discipline engineers.
