The Museum Events Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of all of the museum's annual signature events such as the Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony, Baby Animals, Ghosts on the Banke, Candlelight Stroll and Vintage & Vine - a wine festival in historic style. Each of these events can bring more than 8,000 visitors to the museum. In this position, I spend a lot of time managing a fantastic pool of volunteers, without which these events would be impossible to put on. I am responsible for the overall presentation of the events and love to be able to use my creativity in that aspect. Further, even with extensive planning, event management relies on lots of on-the-spot fixes and problem solving. The signature events at Strawbery Banke bring in a huge amount of the Museum's income and careful budgeting is a crucial part of my job,In 2023, in addition to managing the Museum's signature event program, I also took on the Museum's robust Site Rental program which includes signature community events such as Plates for a Change and Portsmouth PRIDE as well as helping to organize smaller corporate functions and events.

In COVID times I have taken on duties of the Visitor Services Associate and the Exhibit Coordinator. I am in charge of the customer facing side; answering phones, replying to general inquiry emails and messages, greeting customers, maintaining the POS system, petty cash management, visitor demographic tracking and generally assisting visitors as they experience the museum. Further, I have taken on the museum's gift shop - in charge of inventory, display maintenance, sales, tracking, storage maintenance and organization. I have also added the development of collections based social media posts to my running list of Social Media tasks as well.Throughout my time at MLA I have also helped with gallery renovations such as painting, taping, drywall, exhibit installation and cleaning; as well as field trip monitoring, museum event management, and tours.

As the Development Associate, I was responsible for maintaining the donor database, DonorPerfect as well as producing correspondence for prospective and current donors. I actively translate our visitors into constituents and make sure they have access to learn about the museum's mission and how to donate. I create and run reports for the Executive Director that inform strategic planning and decisions as well as prepare reports for our accountant.As the Social Media Manager I plan, post, edit social media posts across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This role also includes all electronic correspondence with the community such as emails and graphics. I truly enjoy graphic design.

As a Data Entry Specialist, I utilized my college level Art History education to process data brought into the system by an AI system. This position combined my love of puzzle like problem solving and art history and allowed me to process many current art auctions as well as a backlog of auction data.

During this 2 month internship, I took on the entire collection of the NH Boat Museum. I physically sorted through and organized the storage facility in order to make objects in the collection easier to find for exhibits and research. Further, using database management and nomenclature guides, I was able to transform their PastPerfect database into a more user friendly interface.

I worked to design, create and then implement technology based ways to engage with the museum and its Visitor Center. For the first half of my internship I developed a kids' scavenger hunt using Augmented Reality. In the second half of the year, I used a 360 camera to create a Virtual Reality tour of the second floor, and basement of the historic house, which are inaccessible to those with physical disabilities. The idea was to create the virtual tour to be as similar as possible to the in person tour - so that two differently-abled people could talk about their separate experiences as a shared one.

I held a summer internship through the MFA's internship program. I chose to intern in the Development Department , specifically with Gifts of Art, because I knew nothing about that aspect of the museum. I was responsible for sorting through the large influx of emails that the Gifts of Art Department receives, from people hoping to bequeath their collection or item to the museum, as well as receive the associated tax benefits associated with that gift. I would then send those inquiries on to the appropriate collection's curator. Also, I made created lots of entries into the database, Tessitura, the museum's constituent/donor database. I became familiar with the application, PaperVision, from meticulously uploading digital records of physical correspondence from previous donors, or other patrons of the museum.

John Paul Jones House is a historical house which once served as a rest stop, of sorts, for the founder of the American navy. The house is filled with a wide range of antiques and donated items from the Portsmouth Historical Society. A small team of very passionate museum staff have been gracious enough to take me on as an intern and give me real hands on experience with collections management , exhibition organization, research, and anything else they can think of.On a weekly basis I would : interact with guests, organize and create displays, log information with PastPerfect software, research potential acquisitions, post updates and blurbs on website and social media fronts, and attend meetings with the Portsmouth Historical Society who oversees the property.
