Collaborating with other IT leaders, they ensure the seamless integration of infrastructure projects, thereby enhancing our operational resilience and cybersecurity defenses.The Infrastructure Architecture Manager also oversees our cloud architecture strategy, managing its performance, cost-efficiency, and security. They adeptly handle relationships with external vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.In this role, significant collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is crucial for the design and ongoing management of the IT infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, the Infrastructure Architecture Manager provides insightful recommendations and leads the implementation of approved infrastructure initiatives, while staying abreast of emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and industry developments. Leading role for the planning and delivery of an efficient, responsive, effective and customer focused Infrastructure service. This includes strategic and operational Infrastructure support. To work closely with service desk, network & telephony, informatics and development teams to ensure a focused, structured and co-ordinated approach to the provision and delivery of the technical infrastructure service.My role includes acting as a final escalation point for technical issues within the organisation with a primary focus on project work and innovation. This includes tender documentation and design for highly complex environments as well as subject matter expert advice at a senior level.Design, deployment and configuration of the Trusts mixed virtual infrastructure (VMware and Hyper-V) including compute and storage resources. Currently this comprises HP blade chassis with HP 3PAR storage enabling an active/active datacentre. Combined with our Cisco Nexus infrastructure and OTV we are able to seamlessly move workloads between geographically separate sites with zero impact. Planned and carried out a full datacentre shutdown to demonstrate (and prove) the benefits of this design.Security - again design and deployment of numerous security solutions providing defence in depth. Currently working to implement Microsoft 'AppLocker' and other enhancements to provide even greater protection to the organisation. Solutions span multiple application and operating systems for example - VMware, Microsoft, Linux, Exchange etc.Currently evaluating various cloud solutions (Azure, vCloudAir etc) as part of the Trusts strategic IT policy.When I have spare time I'm typically looking at new ways to defend the organisation from threat actors or troubleshooting the issues that have stumped everyone else.
