I managed and implemented projects centered on climate change mitigation, natural resource management, ecosystem services valuation and greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, funded by USAID, the World Bank, national governments and international conservation organizations.

Worked on U.S. climate change legislation, including analyzing and summarizing the Waxman-Markey and Kerry-Boxer Bills (2010) that would have implemented a cap and trade carbon credit trading system in the United States. I developed a rating system for key agricultural and forestry carbon offset projects through a qualitative analysis of the state of offset projects in terms of implementation challenges and opportunities for both policy makers and the private sector. My responsibilities included calculating greenhouse gas emissions from entities in carbon intensive sectors, including the oil and coal industries, in order to estimate compliance costs in the context of a climate change cap and trade bill.

As Chair of the AYCC policy team, Mr. Grais was responsible for managing the organization’s Policy Development Team in representing AYCC policy to federal and state government in Australia, as well as public constituency in different forums and consultation processes. Mr. Grais also coordinated AYCC policy development, including the research, drafting, and editing of key submissions on climate change and energy policy to the federal government in the lead up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in 2012.
