• Conducted baseline surveys to inform an Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment (ESA) such as breeding bird surveys, call playback surveys, critical habitat assessments, and wildlife habitat ratings.• Statistical analysis and graphical summary of effluent from a constructed wetland for permit reporting.• Performed bird nest sweeps requiring accurate bird identification and knowledge of regulatory buffers for different species.• Holistic knowledge of wildlife features and behavior required to conduct wildlife sweeps identifying nests, dens, wallows, and mineral licks.• Lead numerous large and complex amphibian salvages and habitat assessments requiring the identification and relocation of frogs, toads, newts, and salamanders, including species-at-risk, at various life stages ensuring welfare and contamination protocols were strictly abided by.• Remote field experience requiring the use of field trucks, inReaches, helicopters, satellite phones and safety check-ins.

• Leading and conducting field assessments of over 160 tailings ponds/sumps for risk to wildlife for the Oil Sands Bird Contact Monitoring Program.• Species identification of bird mortalities for regulatory reporting.• Developing and reviewing Suncor’s Black Bear Aversive Conditioning Program documents, the Suncor Wildlife Standard, and the Whooping Crane Response Protocol.• Taking the lead on the wildlife communications plan by developing concise and engaging communications and planning the distribution at Base Mine and regionally.• Reviewing proposed intermediate wildlife safety courses for accuracy of the content.

• Data collection and analysis in the field using the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) for measuring discharge in canals and using a strap-on ultrasonic pipeline flow meter for measuring water use in pivots. This fieldwork required the application of QA/QC concepts.• Plant identification and invasive species monitoring from hand-pulling of flowering rush and black henbane as well as bi-weekly checks for zebra and quagga mussels on veliger tubes.• Veliger and water sample collection for Alberta Environment and Alberta Agriculture and Forestry which required attention to instruction to prevent contamination.
