About Alex Humphries

Thank you for taking time to review my profile.I have almost 30 years experience in the commercial interiors market, predominantly workplace furniture and associated services. During that time I have gained extensive experience and insight by working with many corporate sector organisations both in the UK and globally. My roles during that time have included strategic business development, account management, global accounts, leadership all of which have also allowed me to participate in the delivery of many major projects and frameworks. Working closely with end user clients and their design and project management teams. To date my enthusiasm remains just as it was when I entered the industry and I look to continue to develop relationships with both existing and new individuals and organisations helping them achieve more from their workplace environments.

  • The Senator Group
    Head Of Global Corporate Sales
The Senator Group Jul 2014 - Jun 2018
My role upon my return to The Senator Group was to pick up and continue the engagement with corporate end users. We now had a larger team to support this and also could accelerate this process as a combination of:All we had learned previously (gaining a deeper understanding on client and geographical needs)A raised profile of our brands within this sectorA proven track record - building confidence. This enabled us to achieve much more in this period with a particular focus on positioning Senator Group into regional - EMEA frameworks to allow us to more effectively position our brands and product portfolio with both corporate sector clients and their professional teams (A&D - project management) During this period we were able to achieve positioning of Senator Group onto multiple RSA frameworks and also win a number of ‘high profile’ capital projects.
  • Domino Commercial Interiors Limited
    Sales & Marketing Director
Domino Commercial Interiors Limited Apr 2013 - Jun 2014
    Sheffield
Returning to operate in the North, my main aim here was to promote Domino Commercial Interiors to clients typically considering relocation or refurbishment. We offered a D&B design and build offering for commercial interiors including:Interior design -space planningCat B fit outWorkspace furniture (where I introduced Senator Group as the primary furniture offering)Our route to market balanced between end user engagement (across multiple sectors of northern based organisations) along with a high focus towards commercial real estate practices (both office agency and building consultancy) Leveraging the value we could add to their clients considering relocation or refurbishment.
  • Senator
    Strategic Corporate Sales Manager
    Senator Feb 2011 - Apr 2013
Tasked with a ‘new’ objective for Senator to engage as the OEM (manufacturer) with major organisations (typically with an EMEA or Global profile) to promote Senator’s capabilities and product portfolio generally in and around London and the southern regions. The primary objective here - we recognised that all clients have ‘incumbent’ supply chain relationships and the aim was to understand and influence their selection (to Senator and Allermuir brands) as we recognised that due to a number of factors including:Understanding of capabilities (Products- warranties) InnovationArchitecture and Design co-ordination (working with the clients design team to specify products)Reducing risk.Major corporate sector end users saw benefit it engagement at numerous levels with the manufacturer in their procurement and selection of workplace furniture. This would typically involve co-ordination with procurement through Senator’s dealer network.Although initially challenging (as any new route to market - specification and supplier selection) with a number of ‘major project’ wins, we began to establish the Senator brand as a viable choice in the corporate sector.
  • Sis Workspace Limited
    Managing Director
    Sis Workspace Limited 2001 - 2010
After initially joining the company in a business development role to promote the companies capabilities to a wider market. During this period I gained a number of promotions (eventually becoming managing director of the workspace division of the group). This remit included the refinement of our offering to:DesignInterior construction (Cat B tenant fit out)Workplace furniture (supply - installation)Move management servicesDuring this period 2005-2009 as a result of implementing new sales-marketing strategies we saw significant growth within our division, including a number of major projects and the development of a ‘key account’ programme (which resulted in providing sustainable year on year profitable revenues) During this period we also saw the ‘workspace’ brand and it’s profile raised within our regional marker(s) These experiences probably led me towards the ambition to trying a new experience moving from a ‘service based’ organisation towards a manufacturer with wider scope, scale and client-project potential
  • Broadstock Office Furniture Ltd
    Business Development Manager
    Broadstock Office Furniture Ltd 1997 - 2001
This role provided a fantastic grounding and insight into the workplace furniture industry. At many levels operational, commercial and sales/marketing. My role combined regional market management (responsible for servicing and maximising all accounts in the Yorkshire, North East and Midlands territories) In addition as this was not one of the more established regions (the business as that stage was predominately focused on the North West) a high focus on ‘Business Development’ was required. During this period we were able to provide significant growth adding a number of important accounts across multiple sectors.
