I provided comprehensive waste management support to each of the project teams, with specific tasks including:- writing waste management plans to ensure an integrated approach- providing waste management input into optioneering studies (BAT, BPM, BPEO) in support of strategic decision making for the processing route of FED and HAW- operating the site’s portable gamma spectrometry system (ISOCS) for analysis of both raw and conditioned packages of intermediate level waste packages- processing and interpreting ISOCS data for waste management planning, fingerprint derivation, radioactivity inventory derivation, and disposability assessments- liaising with project managers and disposability officers to ensure that both disposability requirements and operational feasibility can be met- ensuring the generation of compliant waste packages during each stage of processing (retrieval, loading, conditioning) as per Waste Product Specifications, Waste Package Specifications, End Point Methodology Statements, and Data Recording Methodology Statements.I also provide support to the Waste Management Department at Bradwell by assisting with waste storage, processing, shipment and disposal issues; writing LLWR characterisation and variation documents; and updating site’s Radioactive Waste Management Case for regulatory review. I was the characterisation engineer for the land quality management team and conducted extensive sampling and analysis of soil, rock and groundwater around site.I provided technical support regarding Environmental Radiation Survey and Site Execution Manual (EURSSEM), NUREG-1575 (MARSSIM), NUREG-1575 Supp. 1 (MARSAME) and NUREG-1576 (MARLAP).
