I have recently started a new position at Old House Studio as an Audio Engineer intern. Working at this studio has given me the opportunity to expand my skills as an audio engineer. I am learning more about recording, production, and mixing through analog gear. I am learning these skills through an AMEK console and patching various elements of outboard gear such as eq’s, compressors, and effects. Working at this studio has also given me the opportunity to learn the basics of sound treatment in a room and how to properly setup a recording/listening environment. I have since participated in tracking sessions featuring full bands of professional studio musicians.My first studio experience was working at Studio Evolution Sound in Charlotte. The studio’s main genres of focus were RnB, Pop, and Rap. Working here taught me the basics of Pro Tools and various other engineering skills such as mic placement, live vocal/instrument tracking, production, and finishing. I primarily tracked clients in Pro Tools and used Reaper to do mastering/finishing. I also used Adobe Premier to render visuals for social media publishing. Working at Studio Evolution Sound also gave me the opportunity to participate in voiceover sessions. During these sessions a vocal coach accompanied clients online via zoom to assist the client while I tracked them. These sessions would serve as an opportunity for clients to build a portfolio of vocal takes to then send to employers for professional voiceover work.I also worked for Sofar Sounds as a Live Sound Engineer. I primarily worked shows through the Charlotte area providing a live, clean, and professional mix for all artists. Working in live audio gave me the opportunity to learn how to use a mixer to balance artists vocal/instrumental performances. I also a student attending UNC Charlotte, studying business in marketing.
