About Alex Ledsham

I have a passionate interest in Classical music, currently looking to develop a career in music research and editing, specialising in unknown repertoire of the Baroque and Early Classical Periods, in addition to developing a career as a Tenor, both as a soloist and as an ensemble singer. I currently sing tenor in 3 Cambridge-based choirs, those of Great St Mary's, The University Church; St John's Voices, based at St John's college, and Emmanuel College. Recent solo experience includes; Tenor soloist in Mozart Requiem and Pergolesi Magnificat; Evangelist in Schutz Christmas Story, and one of the Tenor soloists in Handel Messiah.In addition to developing my singing career, I have extensive experience in both administration and customer service, including within the financial services industry.

    The duties I undertook in this role were heavily administrative based. To prepare and print orders of service, publicity posters or flyers, and other documents as required each week, proof reading each draft before the final print run, as well as paying close attention to detail when drafting, to ensure that the margin for error is very low. Undertaking all of the administration for external concerts/performances/tours/broadcasts that the choir is undertaking, which includes; sourcing and booking transport, sorting out performance licensing by liaising with the county council licensing department, booking catering facilities and accommodation as required. Providing a point of contact for the Music and Worship departments - answering enquiries via email, telephone and in person. Providing PA support to the Director of Music and Precentor - taking of telephone messages, diary management, providing refreshments for meetings/taking minutes at meetings and following up on matters arising from the meetings. Other general administrative duties as required, such as providing reception cover and answering the general switchboard and distributing incoming post. Within this role, I was required to work to extremely tight deadlines, and as such, was able to develop exceptional time management skills, as well as build on my already excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
