As the county Environmentalist, I have implemented a number of waste diversion projects such as a plastic bag recycling program, recycling contamination studies, public and school landfill/recycling tours, enhanced event recycling and coordination with local non-profit groups. In addition, I oversee the Household Hazardous Waste facility, of which diverts upwards of 35 tons of potentially hazardous waste from the Georgetown County landfill per year and oversee our internship program for the Environmental Services Division. Furthermore, I am responsible for writing and reviewing grant funding and proposals associated with waste diversion, environmental education efforts, and litter reduction. In my time with the county, The Environmental Services Division has received over $350,000 in grant funding. As the Training Coordinator for the Department of Public Services, I have coordinated many professional and safety training such as FEMA Natural Disaster Preparedness, Heavy Equipment Operations, Middle Management Leadership Training, CDL training, HAZWOPER, and Ethics in Public Works. Along with training coordination, I have assisted in writing and revising an Individual Career Plan for the Department of Public Services, the Debris Management Plan for Georgetown County, the Household Hazardous Waste SOP, and a number of county policies.

I worked as an environmental consultant assisting clients in their coordination with the appropriate branches of government such as the Army Corps of Engineers, and SCDHEC where my responsibilities include wetland delineations, Phase I ESA’s, limited asbestos inspections, protected species assessments and assisted in monitoring possible environmental contamination and thereafter, remediation or mitigation.
