• Responsible for the customs clearance of all import and Export shipments at the gateways and all free zones.• Ensure full compliance of the regulatory requirements whilst managing the clearance performance.• Manage the Gateway(s) and free zones by planning and implementing strategies to ensure improvement in transit time performance whilst managing costs.• Responsible to manage all customs credit and standing guarantee accounts.• Responsible to ensure all amounts paid on behalf of customers are collected and accounted accurately.• Ensure Customs and gateway practices and procedures are in line with the local customs regulations for the smooth operations of the organization.• Responsible to build and maintain excellent relationship with Customs Authorities.• All expense at the gateways and free zones are accounted and claimed.• Ensure employees in gateways and free zones are trained and developed to meet business and succession needs and ensure adequate manpower is planned and in place.• Ensure that the team is provided with clear direction and performance standards and is staffed, trained and motivated to meet set targets.• Identify and develop effective IT systems in order to enhance performance of the gateway and clearance department.• Optimize manpower and resources within the Gateway to ensure that target levels of productivity and performance are achieved and sustained within cost parameters.• Create and implement effective Gateways contingency plans to ensure the minimal impact on customers when normal service provision is not possible.• Effective prioritization and allocation of Gateway resources in line with the Country plan and objectives

• Ensure all trading agreements are within the terms of the credit approval and review the contents of new credit applications from a trade finance technical point of view, and flag any concerns.• Undertake reconciliation’s of accounts as appropriate.• Identify and collect payment of all major accounts through proactive planning, prioritization and execution of daily call cycle.• Coordinate and manage the workload in the credit department with the appropriate levels of resource.• Set and review targets for the department to improve performance.• To evaluate customers credit worthiness to support the sales process.• Preparation of Monthly business report at the end each month.

Duties involve the overall supervision to protect and improve the cash flow by regular monitoring of the financial stability and payment performances of all customers so as to maintain the cash flow within planned targets. Follow up and collection of all outstanding payments and visit customers as and when required to resolve all disputes with regards to payments in mutual conclusion whilst providing fully reconciled accounting statement to ensure minimal days of outstanding.
