I was a music educator, arranger, and composer, but now I'm trying something different! After schools shut down due to the pandemic in March 2020, I decided it was time to pivot. I started my journey towards becoming a self-taught front end web developer. Fast forward to now, I have become proficient in HTML, CSS, Sass, and Bootstrap, and am becoming more fluid with JavaScript daily. I anticipate transitioning from JavaScript into React soon and will hopefully move to full time web development in the coming months. Transitioning from music education to coding has been very rewarding and I look forward to finding ways to implement my creative strengths into my new career.In late 2019 I and some of my colleagues started a nonprofit music circuit called the Arkansas Marching Arts Association (AMAA). Leaning heavily on my desire to offer unique musical opportunities to youth in the state of Arkansas, AMAA is an outlet for thousands of young musicians and their instructors in not only Arkansas, but the tri-state area to engage in the marching music arts in a healthy competitive form. The circuit proved to be a great success in the first year and is already seeing more growth, despite the pandemic. I’m grateful for this opportunity to stay connected to the music community. I have a BA from the University of Arkansas (Communication/minor in African & African-American Studies). I am proficient in a variety of software applications on both Mac and Windows, ranging from Microsoft Office and Apple's iWork suite to music notation software like Sibelius and Finale, as well as creative software like Final Cut Pro X, Lightroom, and other Adobe Creative applications.
