Alexander P. Ott is a partner at McDermott Will & Emery and is based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Alex focuses his practice on litigating complex patent disputes and represents clients in a variety of high technology industries, including the electronics, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, and software fields. He has represented clients in federal courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Alex is also a registered patent attorney with significant experience in patent prosecution matters and has prosecuted patents covering a range of technologies. Alex received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, where he was a member of the Tulane Law Review. While in law school, he interned for the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, and was a law clerk for Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, a pro bono legal aid organization.Alex was selected as a Washington, D.C. “Rising Star” in Intellectual Property Litigation by Super Lawyers magazine from 2014 to present.Alex is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.Attorney Advertising.
