About Alex Poppe
I joined ISI in the summer of 2023 whilst finishing my PhD course. Having graduated from the University of Kent in 2019 with an Integrated Masters (1st Class Hons) in Physics, my PhD is in applied machine learning in physics.During the course of my PhD, I have collaborated on projects with researchers in both the University of Kent and the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. In the latter case, my work in the area of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) attempts to further the understanding of light-induced interactions between individual molecules and metallic surfaces to facilitate improvements to industrial catalysts, which are crucial components in pharmaceutical and other chemical industries. I am applying my machine learning skills to help solve measurement challenges for our clients.
