Coordinator, supervisor and strategist of the studio (development, design and photography) at VICE Media Benelux. Responsible for building the studio team, managing products and coordinating studio producers, designers, photographers and developers on creative work for digital media.-I've got one of the coolest jobs in the world. On a daily base I get to coach, manage and work with a handpicked team of producers, designers, animators, photographers and developers at one of the fastest upcoming companies in the world. Together we work for brands and internal departments all over the world that challenge us to create distinctive work. After 5 years of VICE everyday is still a surprise and the future looks bright.Besides heading the studio department I also get to start and work on innovative projects with the other heads of departments (sales, creative, video, editorial etc.) and VICE offices around the globe. I'm specialized in monetizing and distributing online (video) content cross platform.

Back in 1996 my former childhood idol, Bill Gates, wrote "Content is king". For him it was probably too late to switch to content instead of software, but not for me. In 2010 I joined VICE, one of the pioneers in not only creating but also monetizing online content independently. I joined as a developer originally but was able to grow into a position which combined all my past careers into one position. At this point I decided to kill my own magazine (see below) and fully surrendered to VICE to become the head of studio.

Tagsters was an independent skateboarder lifestyle magazine. My technical background enabled me to build a platforms and become a full time publisher in the sports and lifestyle industry. Tagsters fought its way into the skate scene over the years and connected a new generation of skateboarders all over the Europe on the internet. At its height I directed a team +/- 12 editors, photographers and filmers. Tagsters is the reason I got hooked to photography. Sports and lifestyle photography teached me to perform as a (strobist) photographer and filmer under high pressure and extreme circumstances. Working with tight budgets also forced me to be creative and use lateral thinking on the spot to find solutions for any challenge. I developed a style for working under high pressure in which getting results has the first priority, fine tuning comes second and experimenting if there's any time left. I seldom missed a shot.

I started Neosoft with my long term business partner Zwier Kanis right after high school. Together we've worked on so many clients the past 14 years I can't even remember if it's close to a 100 or 150. I left the company around 2013 to work for VICE full time. Nevertheless we still work together on a daily base. At VICE Benelux Neosoft is our goto company for all online development and research.

Lieven Engelen was nice enough to give me a part-time position at PHX as a developer. It helped me in the initial phase of Tagsters (see above) to support myself financially and I also learned a great deal about creative processes. Lieve Engelen was the first Creative Director I worked for directly. We shared a passion for video and photography. I admire the way he combined commercial work with true artistic passion and made everybody part of it. Besided development I also got to do a lot of commercial photography which I'm very grateful for.

For over a year I worked together with Mick Johan and Matthijs Booij in our shared gallery at the NDSM loods in Amsterdam Noord. I learned a lot from these to guys, they raised me as one of their own. Working with M&M for a year gave my personal development and what I stand for as a professional an incredible boost. I miss working in a gallery full of crazy art and bitterballen. I don't miss being poor.

N&A Interactive was my first advertising agency experience. Thanks to Kees I got the chance to lead my first (two person) team and pioneer on digital advertising activations.

Despite dropping out of school with no diploma's or whatsoever eFocus gave me a chance to proof myself as a developer in a professional environment. Working for an established organisation was a great experience. I learned a lot about structure and processes in projects which I still apply today. After little less than a year I was offered a senior position at N&A Interactive in Amsterdam which made me decide to leave.
