Working under Dr. Hugh Bruck, I am assessing the capabilities of a commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to predict defect formation during the casting of a unique non-Newtonian fluid. The main defects being considered are air entrainment as well as micro- and macro-porosities. In this role, I am learning about advanced simulation setup which includes creating a custom fluid input within the software through derivations of given data and research of similar materials, developing complex meshes for geometries of various sizes, and generating unique parameters to minimize the runtimes of the simulation.

As a coach, I was tasked with co-leading a team of over 200 swimmers, ranging from ages 4 to 18. I also helped plan practices, meets, and rosters for the team.
