Experience Police Community Relations Specialist that has facilitated, expanded, and coordinated the community-orientated policing efforts of the City of Madison Police Department (MPD) which helped build trust and improve legitimacy, especially in communities of color within Madison; and has worked to create collaborative neighborhood-building efforts among officers and MPD civilian staff, and residents and community resource providers and/or links to services and opportunities for people of color, especially youth. This position is assigned to the Community Outreach Section of the Madison Police Department but meets on a frequent and regular basis with the Chief of Police. This position is responsible for organizing or assisting and implementing community relations programs specifically designed to improve relationships between the Madison Police Department and Madison’s communities of color and for recruiting and training volunteers to aid the department in meeting its mission. The Police Community Relations Specialist will improve the responsiveness of the Chief of Police, the Community Outreach Section, and the Department to various requests from community organizations for support, information, and/or participation in events; I have assisted the MPD Public Information Officer (PIO) with social media work and outreach; and has assisted the MPD Training Team to enhance the recruitment of a diverse pool of candidates to join MPD.

Worked as a Detention Officer in the Guilford County Detention Center.
