I am currently employed with Lauka McGuire P.C. as a staff accountant. I started in February 2023 and have had the chance to work on tax preparation, audits, payroll and bookkeeping. I recently graduated Portland State University, completing my Post-Baccalaureate certificate of Accounting. I have enough credit hours to qualify for the CPA exam and plan to complete the CPA in late 2024. I originally graduated University of Oregon with a degree in General Social Science with an applied focus in Business, Economics and Society. My joke is that I can sell you something, but then I have to think about how that sale affects the market and society. The degree prepared me for creating, analyzing and applying reports as well as considering decisions with a cost/ reward basis to make sound judgments. It also made me very coachable and easily adaptable to new ways of thinking and work environments. My time at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Dominion Dealer Specialties gave me invaluable work experience by getting to manage millions of dollars worth of assets, following State and Federal legislation and managing a team. Additionally, both jobs taught me accounts receivable, budgeting, forecasting, payroll and accounts payable.
