Working specifically with the College of Business, I help prepare students for career opportunities by leading informative presentations in classes and meeting one on one with students. I also connect students to career related resources, events, workshops, and other services geared towards career development. In my one on one visits, I encourage students in all things career, conduct resume and cover letter reviews, support with interviews, and generally offer advice and support. I love that I get to see growth in the students I work with and it means a lot knowing that I could play a small positive role in students journeys.

My responsibilities in my first role at MSU surrounded employer engagement. I was the first line of contact for employers wanting to recruit MSU Denver students. Through our job board website, and through hiring events, I helped employers connect with students. I am grateful I was able to work with such a great team and glad my new role continues that close work.

Upon my completion of my first year at RMP, I was fortunate to stay on in a slightly different role. I transitioned to a team whose task was to open a new school. Although my responsibilities stayed wide ranging and consistently changing depending on needs, I was able to continue to grow important skills in community service, recruiting, and relationship building. I led enrollment and community outreach for our new school opening for SY2018 in NW Denver as well as organized and managed all community enrollment events for Berkeley. I enjoyed my time meeting prospective families and speaking about RMPs mission while supporting families. One of my favorite teams to work for was the hiring team. Charged with jobs consistent for a recruiter, I recruited and hired Lead Teachers and Fellows for all RMP schools. I evaluated candidates, attended recruiting events, updated hiring processes, and assisted in the interview process.

In my first role at RMP, I helped guide students and families on their paths beyond 5th grade. I instructed parents and students on Denver Public School’s school choice program and supported them in finding the best school for each family. I built an all in one guide for families soon to be transitioning in order to ease the burden of changing schools and help parents navigate the process. I also supported events connecting community resources to our students and families. This experience allowed me to grow in many ways and deepened my commitment to help others.

I was lucky enough to spend many summers at a very special outdoor focused summer camp for kids. Throughout my summers, I experienced so much growth and hope that I was able to pass on to others a love for wilderness tripping and a love for nature. In my many roles here, I was able to gain skills involving the art of teaching and leading. Seeing campers’ growth from when they arrived at camp to when they left brought me so much joy and I will always bring my experiences at camp with me wherever I end up.
