Qa/ Qc Quality Control Inspector
My main roles are to ensure that components made in the workshop comply with the engineering drawings, specification documents and are fit for purpose. This involves accurately using measuring equipment including CMM machines, vernier’s, micrometers, bore micrometers, and taking castings and molds of threads for use on shadow graphs. I am heavily involved with inspecting components from sun-contractors that have been machined or coated before being sent to the customer. I also inspect at both the first-offs and final inspection stage. We currently work to ISO 9001 but are moving to AP-Q2, which I have trained for. For every job I inspect I write an inspection report which is sent on to the customer and saved to our database. My role dictates constant communication with the company's management team to assess the standards of production and inspection with the aim of keeping standards extremely high; as part of this I discuss with CNC operators when a part has been made with an error on how this can be improved the next time round. In addition to this I communicate with clients with regards to queries about parts and I am fully trained to raise concessions and NCRs( non conformance reports) against components. I have also been trained to assemble wireline equipment after this has been fully inspected. I was handpicked to relieve the companies workload in Aberdeen for two months within their Quality Control sector, were I gained more QC experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. Finally, I supervise apprentices and help them improve their knowledge within the inspection department.
