An assistant coach for the Sr. Boy's Basketball team and helping with other teams, focussed on helping develop a community committed to determination and accountability - on and off the court. Coaching weekend practices, co-head coaching summer training in 2021 and 2022, and head coached outdoor fitness training in the 2022 summer. Began coaching after graduation from St. John's in June 2021.

Youth basketball coaching for camps, skill sessions, and private group coaching. Primarily head coaching now, but still enjoy co-leading and assistant coaching. Actively improving my coaching skillset and approach by seeking feedback and knowledge from veteran coaches. Now helping younger coaches develop by providing constructive feedback, assigning small leadership roles, and upholding accountability. Coaching co-ed ages ranging from 6-18. Was a participant in the program when young and then transitioned to volunteer work, and eventually coaching positions. Working during university term when available, and always on-call if a fill-in is needed.

At my time working jointly with Gwaii Engineering Ltd. and Islander Engineering Ltd. I:Effectively worked as part of an interdisciplinary professional engineering team - with collaboration between environmental and civil engineering, as well as on-site construction crews;Acquired valuable experience working for an Indigenous-owned and focussed business, having attended community and corporate Indigenous events, as well as a cultural training session concerning Aboriginal Rights and Title, and gaining insight into the intricacies that come with Indigenous-connected engineering and environmental work;Gained solid base experience with: assisting with an as-built survey, reviewing borehole and test-pit logs, conducting small-scale soil grab sampling completing, assisting with environmental monitoring site walk-throughs, completing class-based cost estimates, assisting completing grant documents for clients, creating summary tables of municipality’s markups, completing AWWA water meter sizing calculation, and more;Acquired thorough civil drafting skills using Civil 3D to assemble design bases, and work with survey data, LiDAR surfaces, cost estimates, and more, for projects ranging from one-off residential houses to large multi-acre mixed-use development projects;Refined confident professional communication skills, with frequent internal and external communication with varying levels of required professionalism, through a range of methods (e.g. email, phone, video calls, Slack, etc.).
