My former employer is my current employer. The company bought Midcurrent and operates under that brand. I now lead the editorial coverage of saltwater fly fishing for a larger, more established digital publication, while also furthering efforts to explore and leverage saltwater angling destinations for our adventure travel business.

I lead the editorial coverage of saltwater fly fishing topics for a fast-growing, digital publication. My duties included planning seasonal themes and features, writing and editing content, managing and assigning work to writers and photographers, and seeking out new talent to grow our stable of contributors. I also spearheaded efforts to explore and leverage saltwater angling destinations for the company's expedition travel arm.

This position let me take on more of the planning and developing of Salt Water Sportsman’s seasonal themes and features, plus the selection of photography and conceptualization of illustrations for articles and columns. I also played a bigger role in the production of special interest publications for sibling brands, handled much of the social-media posting, wrote scripts for videos, and served as technical advisor and/or on-screen talent during video productions and photo shoots. Working alongside Glenn Law, a superb editor in chief, I refined my leadership and managerial skills and better prepared for advancement and future opportunities.

I was part of a talented staff of 5 producing 9 annual issues of Salt Water Sportsman, the largest and oldest fishing magazine in the country. I also collaborated in the production of annual special interest publications for Sport Fishing and Boating, our sibling brands. My duties included writing, editing and proofreading, selecting photography for features and columns, testing boats, and attending trade shows to promote our brand, support our advertisers and produce content.

This job entailed managing and collaborating with diverse teams to develop and execute advertising campaigns, overseeing ad design and commercial production for TV and radio, media buying and client relations.

This entrepreneurial venture required me to wear many hats while handling every aspect of the production, distribution and promotion of the TV fishing show, Tarpon Bay Tales. My duties also included securing sponsors, coordinating sponsor ad creation and placement, and attending promotional events.

This job called for creating image and branding campaigns for the local ABC and NBC affiliates, producing image promos for both stations, their news talent and themed franchises, and for specific news stories. The work also entailed writing copy for daily news promos and print ads, and scheduling and organizing promotional events and personal appearances for the news anchors.

My work here involved researching and scouting potential new angling destinations throughout Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Alaska, as well as conducting group travel sales, designing related print ads and travel brochures, updating web content, and providing promotional support at trade and consumer shows.

My position as fly-fishing department manager at this large tackle retailer involved sales, displays, merchandising, stock inventory, procuring (and often training) fly vendors, teaching fly casting and fly tying to customers, organizing consumer events, attending boat and outdoor shows, and helping with international sales (a large portion of the customer base hailed from Latin America, and I often provided technical information and product recommendations in Spanish).

As one of just 3 people producing every issue of the bi-monthly magazine, my job included coordinating editorial and photo assignments, writing and editing content, fact-checking, helping with advertiser relations, providing promotional support at trade and consumer shows, and more. Working with pioneers of the sport, like Lefty Kreh, Flip Pallot, Stu Apte and Chico Fernandez, made this a pivotal experience in my career.
