The University Of Delaware Police Department operates one of nine Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in the State of Delaware. All 911 calls that are placed from the campus phone system are answered by the University of Delaware Police Communications Center (UCOMM).• Coordinated over 80 calls for service daily, ensuring effective responses and sensitive customer service.• Supplemented security for notable dignitaries attending campus events, including President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and Congressman Bill Johnson.• Coordinated with local agencies to maintain strong mutual aid agreements and render assistance as needed.• Facilitated expansive events such as Freshman Move-In Weekend involving 10,000 people, Commencement with 25,000 people, and multiple other 10,000+ person events, such as concerts, speeches, and sporting events. • Monitored life safety alarms, security alarms, access control systems, and CCTV ensuring timely response to various incidents that affect the safety and security of the university community.• Assisted officers in investigations by locating and tracking persons of interest, leading to the successful apprehension of suspects.• Handled and investigated major incidents such as explosive ordinance on campus, violent assaults, and major thefts.• Dispatched incidents within 2 minutes of receiving a call for service, ensuring the timely handling of emergencies.• Trained extensively in topics such as stress management, major incident response, and identifying mental illness/extremism.
