I am a recent Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Calgary. I completed a BC.S in Civil Engineering with a minor in Structural Engineering; I also completed a 16 month internship.As someone who has been working since I was legally able (14 years old) I always strive to be successful in whatever position I am put into. I'm a quick learner with a positive attitude and I'm always up for a challenge. I held several part-time positions throughout my education which has allowed me to be an effective multi-tasker, team-player and has also allowed many opportunities to prove myself in a leadership position. Having worked as a supervisor in a movie theater I was trusted to be in charge of nearly all aspects of operating the theater from opening until closing. Throughout my education, I proved myself through multiple projects, both group and individual, to be an excellent worker always capable of contributing my share and often times more. I have developed excellent problem solving and analysis skills which has allowed me to be successful in my education as well as my 16 month internship position. In this position as a project coordinator, I held a high level of responsibility and was often required to view challenges in a creative way in order to find the optimal solution. In this position I honed management skills and became familiar with dealing with clients, vendors, designers and field crews. I also had a large amount of exposure to the construction industry, from regulations and industry standards, to tendering and estimating, to billing and project close-out procedures.Upon entering my final semester of university, I elected to take a graduate level design course rather than one of the suggested technical electives. This challenging course allowed me to better round out my education and put some additional focus on the structural design element of the minor.
