On my first day working for ITW, I scrubbed floors with a toothbrush. It got better. I’ve spent the last 20 years learning how to manage through experience. I was a floor supervisor, a production manager, and now an operations manager for facilities in the US and Mexico. What I’ve learned is that management is about opportunity cost. Every choice leaves something on the cutting room floor and I have learned to prioritize 2 things in the process. First, I never miss an opportunity to develop leaders under me, even if it makes short term planning more complex. Second, I always keep the long term strategy in focus before making short term direction changes. By concentrating on these ideas, I am proud to say I fostered a team which has shown consistent continuous improvement to the business I have overseen. We performed an operations performance overhaul in a business turnaround, implemented the businesses first ERP system, and installed and dramatically improved Key Performance metrics. I can’t take all the credit for our accomplishments but I believe I am a key contributor in the process. I have managed teams from 3 to 70 through guiding team members to discover their own solutions to key business challenges. This encourages accountability and fosters team building, which builds a self-perpetuating culture. I have been responsible for capital planning, long range strategy, supply chain and purchasing management, employee training & development and multi-site P&L results.I have an MBA from Villanova and a BS from Bryant University.
