Responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction for the Marketing and Communications Department and the Tourism office. This position provides vital information to residents, businesses, strategic partners, and the local media, utilizing brand management and content distribution strategies to maximize marketing and communication resource opportunities for city initiatives while fostering a culture of engagement and communicating a single unified City message.

Responsible for providing vital information to residents, businesses, strategic partners, and the local media. This was accomplished by: maintaining working relationships with media outlets; writing press releases; updating and serving as administrator of the city website; preparing presentations and print materials for meetings and special events; developing and distributing newsletters, brochures and other marketing materials; promoting community events and economic development projects; maintaining government access media activities such as programming for cable television; managing social media outlets; writing speeches and/or preparing presentation material for members of the City Council or staff as needed; and maintaining working relationships with colleagues in neighboring cities, Ellis County, Red Oak ISD, and other key organizations.

- Direct, plan, schedule, market, implement and evaluate City staff and community events.- Create marketing plans and related logos, advertisements, brochures, flyers, social media images and other promotional material for special events and departmental campaigns. - Develop and maintain relationships with local non-profits, businesses,organizations and citizen groups.- Facilitate and execute the approval of partnered or permitted events and ensure cross-promotional efforts for maximum event success.- Prepare, administer, and monitor budgets and expenditures for Parks Department, Special Events, and event-related marketing.- Hire, train and direct seasonal staffing and interns.- Select, direct and supervise vendor contracts.- Procure, coordinate and manage volunteers and employee event staff.
