I edited multiple drafts of Cameron Scholey's memoir, This Happy Home. Collaborating with Scholey, we determined the best narrative arch, themes, and characters to communicate his story. Leading up to publication, I advised Cam on innovative marketing approaches to ensure the memoir had an audience upon publication. We created email campaigns and networked with professors, community leaders, and bookstores, which we followed with social media advertising post-publication.I also earned the opportunity to design the cover of the memoir, which took precision and care to give the best first impression of a fantastic story.

Creating and facilitating workshops for undergraduate students on foundational writing skills needed at the university level. I administer these workshops remotely through Laurier Writing Services so they are accessible to both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses. Workshop topics include transitioning to university-level writing; thesis statement writing; clarity, concision, and grammar; and exam essay writing.

Owner of and editor for Dupuis Editing, a small student run editing business that hinges on university-level writing. We help students navigate university-level writing by revising their essay drafts, providing comments centred on educating them and advancing their writing skills. We also provide editing services for resumes, cover letters, and personal statements. I started this business as a first year undergraduate when I was denied a writing tutor position at my university (which I earned the following year). It didn’t take long for Dupuis Editing to grow, now with 4 employees and over 800 student submissions from all over the English-speaking world. Planned and facilitated English literature tutorial lectures for 25 undergraduate students on a weekly basis. Marked and assessed student exams, essays, and presentations, providing detailed in-line feedback to foster growth. Ran weekly office hours to address student questions one-on-one and conduct review sessions for their upcoming assignments. Beyond my job responsibilities, I organized additional study sessions before major assignment due dates where students could drop in with questions, peer-review, and work together. In this position, I prioritized building a strong rapport with my students and creating a welcoming learning environment. Based on the student’s and supervising professor’s feedback at the end of term, these goals were met and exceeded.

Designed a curriculum of 1.5 hour lectures to help 25 high school students per semester understand the demands of university-level essay writing. Often, new undergraduates are uninformed about what is expected of their writing; this program functions as a bridge to enhance their writing knowledge and increase their success. Held weekly office hours where I navigated students’ needs one-on-one and built a rapport with my class. Created additional documents, worksheets, and slideshows for students to practice the skills discussed in the lectures. And provided and assessed optional homework assignments so that students could apply their new skills.

Activities and schedules accommodate campers ages 4 to 13 and include detailed instructions for cooking, crafts, and outdoor play for the camp counsellors to follow. Ensured that the curriculums’ organization is accessible, allowing counsellors to quickly and easily refer to the information in busy and high-stress environments.
