I learned the role of a manager through my comprehensive internship. On a daily basis, I was involved in visual merchandising / product placement decisions and evaluating performance of our brands and personnel. I developed my leadership and event planning through the preparation and execution of an in-store fashion show that doubled last year's sales. I also created and managed a social media account for the handbag department.

I performed regular updates to the site such as added new products, wrote descriptive copy, and uploaded images. I also monitored product category success and recommended merchandising opportunities based on key metrics. Lastly, I researched ways to grow the online store through data evaluation and competitor analysis.

I maintained a strong work ethic under stressful conditions as I assisted an average of 40 patrons per hour, and demonstrated problem-solving skills when addressing patron complaints and concerns about books and technology loans. I also scanned, organized, shelved, and located books and other materials.

I delegated tasks to members of my group and allocated the budget. I handled communication with press and advertising contacts, getting the show's information spread throughout the school's newspaper, radio, digital signage, and even coffee sleeves. I also planned activities on campus to gain awareness among students and increase ticket sales. I gathered information about the designers, judges, sponsors, teachers and behind-the-scenes crew and compiled a program to be handed out at the event. Lastly, I oversaw social media accounts and ensured the content engaged our audience.
