Directly after graduation I was able to find a job teaching at Bates, where I could explore my passion for health education by gaining experience and learning more about school systems. While Covid cut this opportunity short and I transitioned to the emergency room, I found room and opportunities to further my interest in health eduction. My primary responsibility in this position was to train staff in emergency procedures such as medical, aquatic, or operational situations. This included facilitating regular emergency drills to ensure the preparedness of the team members. In a crisis situation, I was a key point person in directing all personnel as well as acting as a primary responder.I was Lifeguard Instructor certified by the Red Cross in January 2019 and went on to create weekly lifeguard courses certifying over 150 new lifeguards. I was responsible for on deck management as well as office tasks such as registration of students, on-boarding of staff, and logging daily operations for the Westwood Board of Health. I was able to communicate among multiple departments in order to accomplish tasks and provide direction not only on a daily basis, but during high stress situations when necessary.

I was a lifeguard trained in CPR and emergency response procedures working with adults and children in outdoor and indoor facilities. I performed rescues in the event of drowning or accidents.I was a swim instructor, certified with an intensive training (30 hours) with this training, I taught swimming techniques and safety education to new swimmers. I created curriculum for classes, lead and maintained class of 6+ children per class, and I engaged and trained parents to support their children and their progress. Over my teaching career, I lead around 10 classes per week during the summer months, and about 5 classes per week during the off season. I learned how to create relationships with students and parents, and I learned useful techniques to teach safety management lessons focusing on prevention. The ages I taught started at three months old and spanned to private adult coaching lessons.

I have completed five semesters of America Reads programing (approximately 200 hands-on hours cumulatively) which has lead me to my current role of Civic Leader of Literacy for the Office of Community Engagement and Service Learning. My first five semesters were as a site coordinator, where I was responsible for preparing each individual tutor with the given curriculum and book choices. As Civic Leader of Literacy, I focused on developing America Reads programing as well as training over 50 tutors in basics of education and literacy.

As a student athletic trainer working with NCAA athletes, I was assigned to a sports team for a season to assist the athletic trainers and to assist with team injury management. My responsibilities included practice and game set up / break down, communicating with trainers about practice and athletic performance, and forming relationships with athletes to foster a environment of continuous training. I worked under the direct mentorship of athletic trainers to develop skills and knowledge in sports injury and management.

Throughout my collegian experience, I was not only involved in a sorority, but as a charter member of an amazing organization. I have held multiple leadership positions in the organization, in 2017 as a charter sister I attended leadership training seminars (OLT) and went again my junior year (Winter 2018). I served Spring 2018 as both a member of the standards committee and the ritual chair. Returning from abroad, I served as the Vice President during the Spring 2019, and during my term attended the National Greek Leadership Association (NGLA) conference in Hartford, CT. My final semester on campus, Fall 2019, I served as our chapter president leading us into a productive and growth filled semester. In addition to my leadership positions, I wrote our chapters bylaws, standards code, and academic excellence documents. I have been an active member of the inter-fraternity council since December 2017, and even serving as the Director of Community Engagement during the Fall 2019. This organization has developed my passion for not only leadership, but academic excellence and community engagement. Working with both local and national Theta Phi Alpha organizations, my experience in the sisterhood allowed me to constantly be involved and giving back in the most productive way possible.

I was the owner of a small business named Soundwave, an audio engineering and technical theater team aiming to both to give back as a volunteer organization as well as professional paid performances. At Soundwave I created sound plans for functions, theatre performances, various events in addition to, being responsible for audio and visual performance, lighting functions, DJ, and playlists. As an owner, I was responsible for budget, planning, setting the calendar of events and jobs, set up and break down. Over my high school theater career, I participated in over 40 shows mainly as a sound designer. It led me to participate in wider causes, such as my business' partnership with the American Cancer Society for 7 years and counting, planning the entire technical operations for a event of 1,000+ attendees. Privately, Soundwave was contracted for a variety of events such as high school dances, homecomings, fundraisers, pep-rallys, local races and presentations.
