About Alexa Ward

Alexa Ward was first taught to sew as a child by her adoring Italian grandmother and has been passionate about the craft ever since. Sewing has been a major part of her professional and personal life for more than 20 years, from making her own bespoke clothes—including her own prom dress—to starting her own sewing school in Brooklyn.Alexa has studied fashion and design at Pratt, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and in Florence, Italy. After graduating, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, to work for a successful American womenswear company in New York City, and then left corporate fashion to cofound a clothing accessory brand, which garnered national media attention.Alexa founded Brooklyn Sewcial in 2015. Her vision was to create a positive, social, fun, and creative space where she teaches both adults and children the life-changing skill of sewing. She loves sewing and crafting everyday with kids and adults.
