Within the Climate Cluster of programmes, I was the focal person for the biodiversity and climate change nexus topic. My role as an advisor required skills in diplomacy for stakeholder cooperation, strategic programme conceptualisation and management of technical topics aligned to emerging international trends and national priorities within the climate-biodiversity nexus. The role has exposed me to a wide range of stakeholders in the public sector internationally and across South Africa.

Adaptation advisor on the Climate Support Programme within GIZ South Africa

I am an assistant coordinator working on the international Adaptation Futures 2018 (PROVIA) conference, happening in June 2018, Cape Town. The conference will attract over 1200 delegates from 87 countries and multiple sectors. This conference is the premier conference on climate change adaptation.This role and my responsibilities include:-All conference communications: website management, newsletter creation and dissemination, social media management and communication items design.- Conference site visits: budgeting, logistics planning, design, coordinate and manage 9 different site visits around Cape Town that highlight and showcase effective adaptation practices and partnerships at different scales and across sectors and topics.- Corporate sponsor relationship building and maintaining.- Assistance to the conference manager in administrative and operational tasks such as conference logistical organisation, program design and database handling and academic abstract review.

As an intern I assisted the Program Director with fund raising strategies for the research initiative that were in line with the ACDI goals, mission and future plans. My job required me to do a blue skies horizon scan of all possible funders, and with this information a climate change funders database was created that would help to streamline fund searching.

As chairperson of the Wits Yacht Club I was trusted to administer the sailing sports society. This role encompasses memberships, club administration and financial well being. The chairperson position takes on the responsibility of overseeing the major to minor sailing and social events, fund raising and financial backing from the Sports Council as well as people motivation to encourage participation - a challenging job for a land locked university without a fleet of boats.I enjoyed this role as chairperson and am pleased with the Administrator of the Year Award presented to me at Wits Sports Prize Giving, 2014.
