Appen contributors perform internet-based research and evaluate information for companies around the world. They also help build training datasets for customers, which are used to train machine learning models and AI algorithms. AI needs to be trained on a dataset to produce accurate results.

Led financial analysis and investment strategies within a collegiate investment club, conducting comprehensive market research, data analysis, and delivering informed investment recommendations to club members.

Through the business and finance capstone I was able to receive a grant of money from Hathaway Brown School in order to create, set up, and launch my own business. Designed eco-friendly biodegradable bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, created a website titled “Ocean Array Accessories”, and partnered with a local charity. Practiced important skills such as creating ad campaigns, pitching ideas to a panel of faculty, and building strong connections with clients. Gained valuable experience in advertising, sales, and marketing.

As an English tutor, I conducted immersive Zoom calls with students from Norway, China, and the Pestalozzi Education Centre in Lusaka, Zambia. These sessions were designed to enhance their language skills through interactive and culturally enriching experiences. By tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of each student, I fostered an engaging and supportive learning environment that encouraged confidence in the English language.

As a high school sustainability President of the Green Team, I led various environmental initiatives and promoted sustainable practices. This involved managing recycling programs, advocating for energy conservation, and reducing waste through zero-waste lunch initiatives. I organized educational workshops, integrated sustainability into the curriculum, and encouraged the use of eco-friendly school supplies. Weekly meetings with the sustainability club allowed us to plan and coordinate efforts, including community clean-up events and promoting sustainable transportation. My role aimed to foster environmental awareness and action both within the school and in the wider community.

Through the Young Sustainability Leaders (YSL) Program, I actively engaged with mentors from various disciplines, including industry, government, not-for-profits, and the start-up community. I participated in professional development opportunities and interacted with leading figures in sustainability, which deepened my understanding of the field. I took part in mentor catch-ups, attended workshops, and led community engagement projects, all of which contributed significantly to my growth as a leader.
