Starting from the recent UK clinical guidelines on early management of persistent non-specific low back pain in primary care, this project consisted of three related studies and had two aims. The first was to explore patients’ treatment beliefs using focus groups and subsequently develop and validate a questionnaire for use in research and clinical work. The second aim was to investigate (via interviews) clinicians' treatment beliefs and their approach to clinical decision making in low back pain treatment. Duration: 4 years.
