I serve as the Healthcare-associated Infections Epidemiologist. I lead the team through 2019 NHSN External Data Validation which is a form of auditing. The purpose of validation is to assure high-quality surveillance data through accountability and by identifying, understanding, and correcting reporting problems with HAIs. I also generate and manipulate NHSN data to create quarterly reports for the healthcare facilities of Louisiana. These reports display rates of infections, rates of infections related to devices, and ranks in comparison to similar facilities. I support the Healthcare-associated Infections and Antibiotic Resistance team with surveillance and infection prevention programs, including Infection Control Assessment Reports (ICARs). In addition to my role as an HAI epidemiologist, I also work as a regional epidemiologist for Region 3 of Louisiana.

I performed surveillance activities for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C cases. I assisted the ViralHepatitis Surveillance Coordinator in populating and maintaining the surveillance database by performing data entry, case processing and de-duplication for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C cases.

I compiled and analyzed data to develop reports on project evaluation and implementation of evidence-based mental health relief and recovery strategies. The southeastern community we evaluated were devastated by unprecedented floods. I (1) Reviewed project goals, documents and objectives, (2) Secured data from stakeholders as identified on project evaluation documents, (3) Compiled data sources in excel tables, (4) Provided initial analysis of data with SAS in summary tables or charts and brief narratives, (5) Participated in data calls with stakeholders, (6) Identified additional sources of potential data upon request, (7) Kept a log of progress on tasks

I led a group of undergraduate students interested in health sciences through a 6-week educational summer program. The program offered undergraduate-level science introduction courses and clinical experience. The goal is to support the academic and career development of underserved students.

I coordinated and taught science lessons to children in underserved schools of New Orleans. Pre- and post-surveys were given to the students to evaluate their knowledge of the topic presented. The topics were related to lessons that are on their state exams.
