I work in the Division of Recovery Audit Operations (DRAO) within the Center for Program Integrity (CPI). My job includes working with various government contractors in the effort to preserve the Medicare Trust Fund. Along side my work in Federal Acquisition planning, I also work to manage The Recovery Audit Data Warehouse.

Ghana

Served in Peace Corps Ghana where I worked with Cashew farmers to help build their capacity and create sustainability. My job was to teach them about efficiency to help increase their yield and business.In Ghana, the cashew farmers would struggle with income from the crops of their trees. As a PCV trained in compacity building, I spearheaded a project to teach farmers beekeeping. Founded the Nsawkaw Beekeeper’s Association to make beekeeping a sustainable extra income generating activity among cashew farmers and also to study the cross-pollination effects of the bees on cashew trees.Organizer of the Executive Committee of the Peace Corps Ghana Cashew Initiative which is an on-going group of Peace Corps Volunteers who work together to share knowledge and work towards the common goal of improving the livelihood of cashew farmers in Ghana.Lead a P.E. club for children at Konadu Basic School. The school was founded and ran by Clement Opoku which provides the school for children who cannot afford transportation to school otherwise. The club was known as Obour X. Obour is my Ghanaian name which is Akan for "stone". Being the only American in my community was a very broadening experience for me. I have learned how to communicate with people of a completely different culture. This involves being integrated with the culture and sensitive to different lifestyles. This experience has gained me the confidence and ability to be able to go anywhere in the world and be very diplomatic and sensitive when dealing with other peoples.

As an intern on an organic farm vegetable farm. On the farm, we grew over 40 different plant and root crops. I learned many valuable skills in sustainable agriculture that are very valuable in developing countries. Such skills include passive solar greenhouses (high tunnel structure that helps plants flourish in harsh environments), and the importance of soil nutrients for crops. My duties included all aspects of farm management and all daily activities of planting, harvesting, and selling of produce.

I ran my own painting business where I painted the exteriors and interiors of houses. My responsibilities required keeping all financial records, planning, hiring, purchasing and scheduling all projects.

Salisbury, Md

For this job I did many things to keep the campus of Salisbury University looking beautiful. My crew for the Horticulture Dept. had a specific area on campus to uphold and keep clean. I would do everything from mowing grass to shoveling snow. I also helped manage a tree and plant nursery on campus. From our nursery we would plant new trees and ornamental plants throughout the campus. My duties included training new employees.

Timonium, Md

My duties for this job included unpacking shipments and restocking the floor with products such as paint and painting tools. My role in customer service involved all elements of painting including answering questions about painting houses and paint itself. I would tint paint on request to the preferred color that the customer requested in whatever finish and brand they preferred.

Salisbury, Md

My responsibility at this job consisted of the complete design and layout of the Salisbury University’s newspaper. I had to be efficient in Quark Express on Apple in order to design these layouts as well as a proficient typist.

Towson, Md

At this job it was my responsibility to process tax payments by the tax payers of Baltimore County. This consisted of entering the information into the County data system and maintaining the confidence of each tax-payer’s personal information. It was also my responsibility to answer phones for the hotline. Those questions ranged from issues about taxes, and the tax bills received. This experience helped me to better understand the skills required to managing large amounts of funds on a data system.

It was my responsibility at this job to clean the construction site and make sure all of the tools were in order. I also worked along the side of a carpenter and helped him with his carpentry which taught me much about carpentry and the process of this skill.

Washington D.C.

For this job, I rode on the back of a garbage truck and went along a specific route in Andrew’s Air Force base to remove trash from the soldier’s households. I had to start at 5 A.M. and worked until 3 P.M. or later. Security clearance was required for this job located at Andrew’s Air Force base Maryland.
