Employed as a RF technician responsible for the characterisation and performance-evaluation of proto-type mixed-mode integrated circuits designed by SWT, in this case a cartesian-loop IC. The job involved in-depth use and understanding of RF test-equipment and test methods as well as the design and fabrication of small accessories (such as filters) needed to complete the testing. The test results (and failures) then required presenting in a suitable manner to be fed-back inside and outside the company.

Employed as a development technician, half the job was concerned with the operation and maintenance of a number of TCP/IP networks used in part of the development of the software for the radio systems. The other half of this time was spent configuring and trouble-shooting radio systems, both in the lab and in the field for specific customers or projects. These jobs required a sound grasp of practical problem solving techniques and ability to successfully assimilate the knowledge gained while solving a particular problem and to apply this to future situations.
