Embedded Systems Engineer
Current- Embedded systems engineering with a software focus.- Working on small <55lbs UAV and counter-UAV systems. - Designing hardware-in-the-loop simulation as a continuous system integration and test environment. - Development of navigation and obstacle avoidance routines for inclement weather avoidance in UAVs.- Guidance and control development for unconventional vtol and tilt-rotor aircraft using the PX4 flight stack. Examples include gain scheduling for transitions between multirotor and fixed-wing flight modes.- Using the PX4 flight stack including driver development, app/module development, hardware/processor-in-the-loop simulation.- Modeling multi-rotor and fixed-wing aircraft in a 6-DOF environment. Modeling based on theory and then validated using flight test data and system identification tools.- Development of all major components of guidance and navigation systems, driver development for sensors & actuators, sensor fusion & state estimation (EKF), algorithm-based outer-loop (TPN/PPN), and high frequency inner-loop attitude control (PID, pole-placement, or LQR).- Extensive troubleshooting, debugging, and issue diagnoses for critical problems. Examples include propeller speed controller failures, emergent software behavior due to transients such as communication lost-link effects.
