Alex graduated from Stockton University (Accounting / Business Studies, with Honors, 1998); Rutgers School of Law, Camden (J.D., 2002 – top 5% of Class); and Temple School of Law (LL.M. in Taxation, 2009). In law school Alex was an editor of the Rutgers Law Journal. After law school he clerked in Atlantic County for Judge Himmelberger, Jr., J.S.C. (Law Division) (Ret.). Alex is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association; Atlantic County Bar Association; and American Association for Justice. Since 2008 Alex has served as a Trustee of the ACBA and currently serves as its President. He is a past member of the District I Ethics Committee. In 2012 Alex received the Benjamin A. Rimm Award - an award given to an exemplary attorney who has practiced law less than 10 years. Alex was born and raised in Atlantic County, attending local schools and working as a casino games dealer in Atlantic City (Trump Taj Mahal - 1995 to 1999) to support his education. Alex, his wife, Alexa D’Amato Barrera, and their 3 boys live in Linwood, NJ.
