Assists the Port Manager in establishing operational objectives and strategies for attaining goals and targets for meeting corporate and divisional safety, quality/service and overall productivity improvements.Directs, supervises, and motivates all line supervisory functions, ensuring overall plant morale is conducive to safe and productive operations.Appraises performance of supervisory staff and ensures that all hourly reviews are completed in an accurate and timely manner.Assists Maintenance Manager and Team Leaders in the repair and upkeep for all plant equipment to assure minimal disruption to production activities: conveyors, bag houses and ship loader; are some of the key areas.Sets the standard for the manufacture of high quality production with outstanding responsiveness to customer needs and concerns.

- Schedules and directs operations activities ofassigned staff and supervises, mentors and trainssame.- Assists Safety & Environmental Representatives inthe development, implementation andenforcement of safety and environmentalprograms relative to terminal operations.- Enforces safety rules including best practicesand encourages employees to become safetyconscious; stops unsafe acts immediately andauthorizes assigned staff to enact Stop WorkAuthority if conditions become unsafe.- Promotes and ensures proper use of personalprotective equipment among personnelthroughout the facility.- Studies production schedules and estimatesworker hour requirements for completion of jobassignments. Establishes or adjusts workprocedures to meet production schedules.Maintains time and production records forassigned staff.- Analyzes and resolves work problems and assistsstaff in solving work issues. Initiates or suggestsplans to motivate staff to achieve work goals.- Oversees vessel loading and unloadingoperations and tracks tonnages for efficiency.- Works directly with stevedores, vessel agents,and pad operators to track vessel scheduling toensure terminal preparedness.- Performs daily job briefings with employees,other foreman, and Bulk Terminal Manager.- Coordinates with other department Foremen toassign and direct personnel in all areas ofoperations, including shift work operations-Maintains and shares knowledge of allmechanical and electrical operatingspecifications and working characteristics of thegantry crane and radial ship loader and theirrelated components with assigned staff throughon the job training. -Oversees required maintenance necessary topreserve terminal operations, includinghousekeeping and preventative maintenance.-Maintains knowledge of mechanical equipmentencompassing programmable logic controllersfor purposes of operation and maintenance.
