Youth Engagement Coordinator
Current• Support and built the capacity of schools to meaningfully engage students in leadership and decision making using a Health Promoting Schools Framework. • Engage students ages 5-18 in workshops and processes that deepened their understanding of health and learning at school, improved critical thinking skills, involved them in decision making, and gave them agency within their school communities.• Administer $150,000 of grant funding to empower students to identify and facilitate projects relating to health in their school communities.• Facilitate and train staff to facilitate guy’s groups for grade 6-9 to model and promote healthy masculinity and address issues of sexual violence. • Support indigenous students through the development of land-based learning, specialized field trips, and the support of indigenous-centric school projects. • Developing a multi-sector network of youth engagement professionals and facilitated connection and collaboration between organizations.• As a public health employee, I support the provincial response to COVID 19 and developed new methods for data acquisition and organization to improve efficiency.
